Library

GMBS provides access to learning and research materials fully online through a curated set of Virtual Library resources that combines:

  • open-access bibliographic indexes and academic search engines (to identify relevant literature),

  • open-access full-text aggregators and repository-based sources (to obtain legally accessible full texts),

  • open textbook libraries (OER) (core and supplementary learning resources),

  • open data portals (verifiable statistics and datasets for empirical analysis).

These resources are published and used as a single "entry point" within the school's online environment (e.g., LMS / course resources) and are aligned with GMBS programme needs (management, economics, corporate finance, strategy, research methodology). As part of maintaining this curated catalogue, GMBS continuously monitors:

  • availability (link functionality, access stability, URL changes, and any changes in access conditions),

  • currency and sustainability (whether platforms remain actively maintained and content remains relevant),

  • relevance to learning needs (coverage of topics aligned with syllabi and typical outputs—articles, working papers, textbooks, data),

  • quality and suitability of recommended sources (preference for credible academic platforms, peer-reviewed outputs, and verifiable data sources).

This model is transparent: GMBS declares access through the open-access ecosystem and does not claim subscription database access unless such subscriptions are actually in place.

Planned actions: While the current catalogue of open-access resources is extensive and covers a broad range of academic and research needs, GMBS is also pursuing additional subscription-based access to further strengthen the availability of specialised professional content. GMBS is currently in negotiations with the publisher Springer Professional regarding the acquisition of a paid institutional licence and intends to secure this licence prior to the actual launch of its academic programmes. The financial resources required for the acquisition of the licence have been allocated in the Financial Plan.

How students use these resources

GMBS students use the Virtual Library resources primarily for:

  1. Literature review: identifying relevant scholarly outputs by topic, authors, and keywords (discovery/indexes).

  2. Full-text access: locating and downloading available open-access full texts for assignments, projects, and theses (OA aggregators and repositories).

  3. Learning materials: using open textbooks as core and supplementary resources aligned with course syllabi.

  4. Empirical analysis: using open data portals for calculations, benchmarking, and economic/financial analyses (projects and theses).

  5. Proper referencing and transparency: citing all used sources, including datasets, and recording the access date for online resources.
