ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Article 96

Basic Conditions for Admission to Studies

(1) The Malta Referencing Report sets out the basic admission requirements:

(2) The admission procedure shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Internal Regulation of the GMBS (The GMBS Study Regulations for Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Studies).

(3) The number of students admitted shall be determined by the Chairman of the Board of Directors upon a proposal by the Rector.

Article 97

Other Conditions for Admission to Study

(1) The GMBS may set additional admission requirements to ensure that applicants with the necessary skills and aptitudes are admitted to study. The conditions set must allow for the selection of applicants who demonstrate the highest level of aptitude for study. If a greater number of applicants meets the admission requirements, the r ranking of the best applicants shall prevail.

(2) The GMBS may verify the fulfilment of the conditions under Paragraph 1 by an examination (admission, language...).

(3) Rights are guaranteed equally to all applicants and students in accordance with the principle of equal treatment.

Article 98

Disclosure of Requirements for Admission to Study

(1) The GMBS shall publish the conditions for admission to studies and, if the entrance examination is part of the verification of aptitude for studies, the form and framework content of the examination, and the method of evaluation of its results.

(2) The GMBS shall publish the information referred to in Paragraph 1 on its website.

Article 99

Admission Procedure

(1) The admission process starts with the receipt of a completed online application form according to the instructions given on the GMBS website.

(2) The application must be received by the deadline set by the higher education institution. The Rector will decide on the acceptance of applications received after the deadline.

(3) The received application must be registered. In the case of misdelivery or incorrect completion, the GMBS will return the application to the applicant.

(4) If the study aptitude test includes an entrance examination, the GMBS sends an invitation to the entrance examination with instructions to applicants.

Article 100

Entrance Examination

(1) The Subject and timetable of any entrance examination shall be determined by the Rector.

(2) The Rector appoints the chairmen of the examination boards.

(3) The entrance examination is held on a specified date, but the GMBS may set an alternative date.

Article 101

Decision on Admission to Studies

(1) The Rector decides on admission to studies. The Rector's advisory body is the Admissions Committee, the members of which are appointed by the Rector.

(2) All admission procedure materials are submitted to the Admissions Committee. Upon the materials having been submitted, the Committee will propose to the Rector a decision on whether or not to accept the applicant.

(3) The decision on the outcome of the admission procedure must be made within thirty (30) days of verification that the conditions for admission have been met. The decision must contain an operative part, the statement of reasons and statement on the possibility of submitting a request for a review of the decision.

(4) The decision must be notified to the applicant.

Article 102

Review of the Decision

(1) The applicant may submit a request for a review of the decision on non-admission to studies (hereinafter referred to as the "Decision") to the Rector in writing within eight (8) days from the date of receipt of the Decision.

(2) The Rector may grant the request if finding that the Decision was made in violation of the law, the GMBS Internal Regulation, or other conditions of admission. Otherwise, the Rector will forward the request to the Academic Senate.

(3) The Academic Senate shall reverse the Rector's Decision if it was made in contravention of the law, an Internal Regulation of GMBS or other conditions of admission to studies. Otherwise, the Academic Senate shall reject the application and uphold the original Decision.
